The Intention of the Scholarship
The Betty Loughhead Soroptimist Scholarship Trust has been established to help women over the age of 25 years, to obtain a qualification to enter the workforce. It also may be used to gain a further qualification to advance their careers in business, the professions, the arts or to change their occupation.
The Scholarship is intended to provide financial support for study, not fully fund it.
The amount varies, at the Trustee's discretion and may be distributed annually to more than one recipient.
The applicants must be enrolled in a
NZQA approved education programme, the study of which must be undertaken in New
Zealand. Preference will be given to applicants who have a proven record of academic
achievement.
