SOROPTIMIST SCHOLARSHIP TRUST

Criteria and Terms.

Soroptimist International is an organization of women in Management and Professional roles working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women. Worldwide there are approximately 100,000 members in 125 countries. On the international level Soroptimist International has Category 1 Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

As well as striving for human rights for all people and advancement of the status of women, the objects of Soroptimism include service at local, national, and international levels and the promotion of international understanding, universal friendship and the culture of peace.

Betty Loughhead, MBE., JP, after whom this scholarship is named, was the first New Zealander to hold the position of President of Soroptimist International - a position she held from 1983 to 1985.


Purpose

The Betty Loughhead Soroptimist Scholarship has been established to assist women intending to pursue an educational program for the purpose of gaining a qualification that will enable them :

Applications forms may be obtained from the secretary by email   secretary@blsst.org

6 copies of the Applications to be posted to the Secretary (no digital copies will be accepted and applicants who send these will not be considered).

Applications for the Scholarship close on September 1st each year

Applicants will be notified of the Trustee's decision in late December/earlyJanuary.

The Trustees will have sole discretion to grant awards and will determine in their discretion the award amount and number of successful applicants, and the terms and conditions applying to each award.
