A History

The scholarship is named after Betty Loughhead MBE, JP. the first New Zealander to hold the position of International President, 1983-85. The Soroptimists of New Zealand set up the Scholarship with "The Deed" being signed by the first Trustees in 1987. A campaign to obtain funding was started and through the goodwill of the Members the first scholarships were presented in 1989. Charitable Trust status was obtained. The Scholarship is offered annually.
The Closing Date is
1st SEPTEMBER each year.
